At the AGM of Neston & District Chamber of Trade held this week, a new Chair was appointed – the first female to hold the position.

Carrie Spacey, Editor of AboutMyArea/CH64 and Director of Hip & Harmony CIC, took over the reins from out-going Chairman David Clarke (MD of Rightway Ltd).

Carrie had previously held the position of Secretary for the past six years. She said: “It is a great honour to step into the shoes of my predecessors.

“As well as David, I have served as Secretary under the Chairmanships of Paul Davies and Phillip Bates. All three have been strong leaders and are a tough act to follow! It’s also a huge honour to be the first female Chair in the 50+ years of the Chamber’s existence.

“I became involved with the Chamber because I genuinely believe businesses are better together – helping each other out with issues or banding together to work alongside local authorities, whether that be on local seasonal shopping promotions such as the current Easter Egg Hunt, or on major projects such as the recent public realm works in Neston town centre.

“We recently held a Neston Business Matters Forum in conjunction with Neston Town Council and we are now planning another one for June.

“We will also soon be starting to plan the next Neston Business Awards.”

The current membership spans a wide range of business sectors and types – everything from retail to accounting and estate agencies; sole traders to some of the largest businesses in the area, employing hundreds of local peopleNew members are always welcome – the annual subscription of £40 per business helps the Chamber to put on events such as the Business Forum and Awards, as well as making contributions to community events. The Chamber meets bi-monthly to discuss current issues and plan future events.
